Hello I also had problem with 2016-2018 Honda Civic. Engine needed replacement 6 months after end of warranty period, Honda Civic 1.0 VTEC - 2017 Apr 19, 2022. Thread starter #34 Service had troubleshooted the failure and they founded a puncture in the turbo intake hose. I hope the problem will be solved now permanently.
Scander2017. 88 posts · Joined 2017. #6 · May 4, 2018. 17k exl 17k mpg average is 25.3, sunroof failed 6k, seat bubbled 10k, sunroof leaked at 16k, grill deformed 13k, tires wearing too quickly, scary turbo lag when quickly decelerating and the accelerating. Besides tires and turbo lag, all were fixed by dealer.
Theold Honda City’s we’re turbo charged in Japan. True, but those weren't 1.5 or 1.6L, they were 1.2L. Honda has been selling turbocharged cars since the 80s, just not in North America. Japan has been producing reliable sub-2.0L turbo motors for decades.

Accordingto Honda, 2019+ models have the issue mitigated, but not fixed. By the way, oil dilution is a product of direct injection, not some brand-new issue that Honda created and is responsible for.
